Mike greeted me, when I drove up, he was very nice and directed me to service rep Rod who then took care of me every step of the way. Excellent communication, listened to what I needed and explained everything back to me! I was there for my 10K service mile maintenance routine, which included oil change & filter change, tire rotation, brake inspection and inspection of all fluids. Also mentioned to Rod that for some reason my driver seat sometimes made some noise and he said they would check it as my 2024 VW Tiguan R-Line Black is completely under warranty. A few hours later Rod called me and said I was right about the noise so he ordered a new motor for my drivers seat!

Very long wait for a visual inspection and oil change service

I am happy with the actual work that was performed. I am very disappointed with the customer service. The all male service staff acted in a way that made me feel uncomfortable, and when I spoke to the female manager about this she brushed my experience off in a way that was shocking to me. I would think she would want female customers to feel comfortable getting their cars serviced. The communication about how long the service would take was very poor. I was told that my car would be done by one o’clock. When I used the text number I had been given there was no response. When I checked in at two, I was asked for approval to replace my brakes, even though that was what I had originally come in for. So I waited 4 hours while the only thing that happened was a routine 40k mile service, and an opportunity to contact me in a more timely manner was ignored. When I gave the approval, I was told that it would take 30 minutes to do the brakes. When I checked in after 45 minutes, I was told that there was one more brake to do. I didn’t say anything, but my disappointment was obvious. Then the man helping me said, “You don’t want to get the mechanic mad at you!” This seemed vaguely threatening to me. Or what? He’d do a bad job on my brakes? The job was finally finished at around 3:30. So the work, which I was told would take 3 hours, took a total of 5 1/2 hours. I understand that things can take longer than an original estimate, but the communication was basically non existent. And on top of that, the all male staff showed no concern for how this was affecting a female customer. I was happy to hear that the manager was a woman when I enquired about discussing this with a manager, but she showed no concern for my experience and immediately jumped to the defense of her colleagues. I would think that Volkswagen would want all of their customers to feel welcome and appreciated, as a basic tenet of customer service, and it is distressing that this does not seem to be the case at Serramonte. I intend to move my extended service contract to another dealer. It feels as though Serramonte has already received my money for the service agreement, and they don’t care about customer service any longer. I was also told that I would receive an email from the dealership regarding the transfer of my agreement, but that has not happened in the two weeks since our discussion.
